The Panthers never trailed, jumping out to an early lead to hand Strathmore its fourth straight loss 42-14. The Spartans slipped to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the East Sequoia League. Corcoran improved to 5-3 and 2-1.
Junior quarterback Carlos Lopez paced the Strathmore offense, completing 8 of 18 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown.
Junior running back Jade Church put Strathmore on the board in the second quarter, logging a 53-yard touchdown run.
Lopez capped the scoring for the Spartans, connecting with junior wide receiver Jose Rodriguez on a 46-yard touchdown strike in the fourth quarter.
Rodriguez had three catches for 67 yards, while junior wide receiver Andrew Avalos caught two balls for 63 yards. Church gained 94 yards to lead the Spartan running attack.
On defense, Strathmore junior Nathaniel Iniguez recorded six tackles, including two for losses. Senior Giovanni Oliveras was in on four tackles and deflected a pass, while junior Grant Lockridge and Avalos had five and four tackles respectively.
The Spartans will tackle rival Granite Hills Friday at Rankin Stadium in Porterville. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
