Ribbon-cutting ceremony is Tuesday
The long-anticipated Strathmore High School swimming pool is ready. After years of waiting, the pool has been completed and was being filled with water, reported John Snavely, superintendent of the Porterville Unified School District, when the governing board of trustees met Thursday.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Snavely said.
The meeting began with reports on Granite Hills High School and Harmony Magnet Academy.
Nate Nelson, assistant superintendent of human resources and director of technology, reported the district needs an additional 3,769 iPads to achieve one-to-one internet access at all sites, which translates to $1,884,500 in total expenditures.
Also during the meeting, a public hearing on an energy services agreement with A-C Electric Company was not challenged by anyone and the hearing opened and closed. The contract was awarded to A-C Electric of Visalia for solar installations.
